When Meat Lets You Down

Still no heartburn today. A little indigestion but that was it. Another headache though. It was a payroll day though so it really could have been stress this time. I caught it in time by taking some Excedrin. Plus when I weighed this morning I had gained .4 lbs. Not a lot but still. It’s probably the paleo friendly cupcakes.

I had the breakfast fritata today. Really a big letdown. I mean, it was ok, but I think I worked myself up for it that it just wasn’t what I expected. It’s times like this I miss cheese. I heated it up in the microwave though. I’ll try the toaster oven tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. At least it was something besides bacon and eggs!!

I went to Organic Harvest for lunch and got roasted potatoes, steak with peppers and onions and wilted kale. It’s gotten to where meat just doesn’t float my boat. I asked friends on Facebook if anyone had experienced this before and I was surprised at the number of people that said that. It’s either too tough, too dry or it grosses me out. Tonight we had meatloaf, asparagus and mashed potatoes. The asparagus was crispy, just like I like it. The meatloaf wasn’t as good as it usually is. When you can’t use crackers or oatmeal and ketchup, it’s understandable but there’s nothing like a good meatloaf. Maybe this is just another meat that disappoints. My search for good tasting meat will continue.



Heartburn Gone

Yippee! I took my Prilosec this morning and my heartburn has not reappeared all day. Words can’t describe how happy that makes me. I just hope it lasts.

I did get a horrible headache today though. I haven’t had one that bad in a really long time. Not just for no reason anyway. After lunch it started hurting and just kept getting worse and worse. I finally took some Excedrin and put the microwavable neck wrap on and it eased up. Then I just felt like I had a headache hangover.

I picked up my food today that I ordered from Consider it Joy Baking. I got some ranch dressing (which doesn’t taste like ranch at all), paleo bread and a fritata. I also picked up a bento for lunch. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t enjoy the chicken salad as much as I hoped.

Breakfast today was bacon and scrambled eggs. (looking forward to that fritata tomorrow) Lunch was the bento box with chicken salad, fruit, plantain chips with salsa and mixed nuts with some sort of seasoning on them. Those I liked. I also got 4 chocolate paleo cupcakes. Those were definitely good! I only ate one though. I gave one to a lady I work with that is celiac and another to a guy that is diabetic. I still have one though! 🙂 Supper was some tuna salad with the paleo bread.

Hump day tomorow and weigh in! Fingers crossed!!

Lamb Chops. Mmmmm.

We went to Outback Steakhouse with friends last night and didn’t get home until late so I didn’t have time to do my post. But for breakfast it was bacon and scrambled eggs. The hubby met me for lunch at a southern diner. I normally get their fried green tomatoes because they are absolutely out of this world. Actually, they’re from the same restaurant that Fanny Flagg’s movie, Fried Green Tomatoes, is from. But I just had greek chicken, green beans and collards. Always good food there but can be kind of pricey for just a meat & 3. At Outback, I had salmon, mixed vegetables and a sweet potato.

I also had a couple of glasses of wine. This morning I had a headache and felt like pooh all day so I might as well have drank the whole bottle. Again I say, I just need to quit drinking wine. It just seems to be the lesser of evils when going out because of sugar in everything else.

I weighed this morning and I’m down another .07. Woohoo! The pants I wore yesterday were really loose and I may not be able to wear them again. For breakfast I had bacon and fried eggs. Lunch was a fried burger with onion and sweet potato fries. There’s just something about burgers these days. They’re always dry and just not good. I even had him not cook it as long and it was still dry.

Tonight we went to eat at some other friend’s house (the ones that we threw the party for last weekend) and we had grilled lambchops. As far as I can remember, that’s the first time I’ve had lambchops. Our friends are from South Africa and so I’m not sure if the dry rub seasoning is something from South Africa or something they learned here. Whatever it is, it’s fantastic. They have a different taste to them but in a good way. And the grill is called a braai (pronounced bry). She also had a salad, fries and beans. I skipped the beans. The fries were really good too. They had the same seasoning on them as what was on the meat. No alcohol tonight. I took kombucha and some vodka but I drank one of the kombucha’s and never added any vodka. Just wasn’t feelin’ it.

Day light savings time tonight. It’s 11:14 which means it’s really 12:06. Way past my bedtime.

Feeling Icky

I survived the party last night just fine. I didn’t drink too much so no hangover. I decided to drink Skinny Girl peach margaritas. No idea how much sugar was in there but I’m hoping it wasn’t a lot. Based on the name, it shouldn’t be, right?

Real quick, I had bacon and poached eggs for breakfast; no lunch and some of the most amazing chicken kabobs I’ve ever had. Also some roasted potatoes. I almost said I didn’t even taste any of the other amazing food but I did stick my finger in some of the wing sauce. I’m pretty sure the kabobs  had some sort of sauce that had sugar in it but with no other options, it was worth it.

We get up today and clean up some of the mess and then get ready to go on a bike ride. Back roads to a neighboring town to a chicken restaurant called Champy’s. Their specialty is fried chicken and tamales. I ended up getting sweet potato waffle fries, chicken on a stick (more kabobs) and green beans. The chicken was delicious but she said it was seasoned with cajun seasonings so VERY hot. I couldn’t even eat it all. I hate that I can’t eat spicy food. It’s so good!

We came home and got in the hottub to shake the chill off and ease some back pain that developed on the ride. It was fabulous! I had the rest of the Skinny Girl (about 2 glasses) and now I’m not feeling so hot. I’m so sleepy, I can’t keep my eyes open and I have a little bit of a headache.

We are in the process of cooking now. Fried hamburgers (no buns of course), zucchini and mashed potatoes. Not really hungry but I know I will be if I don’t eat something.

Due to a breakdown in communication I had leftover roasted potatoes instead of mashed potatoes. I’m now ready for bed but I do feel a little better. Hopefully my nap won’t keep me up half the night.

Alcohol. Friend or Foe?

Last night was our Sweetheart dance for the Harley club. I had entirely too much fun and have been absolutely miserable all day today. I drank kombucha with vodka and it was very good but went down way too easy. I told my husband that I don’t miss hangovers. It’s been since January 1st since I really drank anything. I had a couple of small drinks on Wednesday but they were weak. So I’ve spent all day on the couch sleeping and watching tv and I can’t wait to go to bed. My goal in the future will be to never feel this way again. It’s just not worth it!

Getting right to the food. Breakfast was bacon and leftover hashbrowns. Lunch was leftover roast, potatoes, carrots and onions. Then all I had for supper was roasted zucchini and sweet potato fries.

My nose is still so stopped up, I can barely breathe. I guess I’m going to have to call the doctor and see if they can call me in something. Tired of being miserable. On a good note, I weighed this morning and had dropped a couple of pounds. Probably because I didn’t eat lunch yesterday.

Busy, Busy

What a busy weekend. Last night we decorated for our Harley Owners Group Valentine party and then we went out to eat. We didn’t get home until 10:00 and I was pooped so no blog last night.

Yesterday’s breakfast was bacon and scrambled eggs. Lunch was left over roast, potatoes, carrots and onions. We went to Chili’s after decorating and I asked for the allergy menu. She hands me the little computer that sits on the table. It was actually kind of neat but I like the ones that show each food item with columns that show if it contains certain allergens. So I looked at all the food that were gluten free and decided on the chicken tortilla soup without the tortillas. It wasn’t until after she walked off that I looked at the foods that didn’t contain dairy and I see the soup is not there so I’m sure it had cream in it. I’m sort of ok with that because I desparately needed something different to eat. But I will be more careful in the future.

Tonight we have our Valentine party complete with steaks, baked potato and salad. I will need to take my ghee and dressing and make sure my steak is cooked with no garlic on it but it will be a very compliant meal.

I’ve slept 2 nights with the oxygen now. Thursday night wasn’t bad. I woke up a couple of times and I didn’t really get irritated with it or feel like it kept me awake. The only thing I really noticed was my nose was stopped up. Last night was a different story though. I woke up several times and felt irritated by the tubes and the thing in my nose. Plus, my mouth was extremely dry.

When I woke up, my nose felt like it had wads of cotton stuffed inside of it, but there was nothing to blow out. I also had a headache and my fingers were super swollen and I couldn’t get my rings off. The longer I was up, the better my nose got and I can now get my rings off. I used my Neti pot and was able to blow a little bit out but my nose still feels swollen. I think I’ll google it to see if there are any recommendations of how to prevent this.

Two steps forward, one step back. But I can do this!


Coconut Oil to Treat Acid Reflux

I went to the doctor today and told her I wanted to stop taking Prilosec and that I was down to one Prilosec about every 2-3 days. She said pretty much what I had read, that you can’t just stop taking it. She gave me instructions to get some Zantac, virgin coconut oil and she gave me a supplement called GI Revive. For the first week, I take the Prilosec every 2 days and the Zantac twice daily. GI Revive 3 tabs twice daily and 2 tbls virgin coconut oil a day. She also said to take Vitamin D but I’m not sure what that has to do with acid reflux.

Of course I forgot to write anything down that I said I was going to ask her about. We talked about a lot though and she seemed pleased that I had lost weight and was taking the intiative to heal my body from the inside out. According to them, I’ve lost 15 pounds since August but according to my scales, it’s 20 pounds. Not sure why we’re different but I know what my scales said and that’s what I’m going by. She wanted me to continue taking the T3 for adrenal fatigue so when I wake up to pee in the middle of the night, that’s when I take it. She also gave me something called Adrenal PX. I’ll take it in the morning and in the afternoon, if needed.

I took advantage of having to go into the doctor before work so for breakfast I had bacon and fried eggs. Lunch was leftover salmon and roasted zucchini. Supper was chicken apple sausage and kraut with more roasted zucchini (I love that stuff). Before I ate, I took my 2 tablespoons of coconut and let me tell you, it was not easy. I like the taste of coconut oil but have you ever tried taking a tablespoon full? Yuck. I think it was the texture more than anything. She said I could put it in my coffee or on my food or whatever so I’ll be getting creative. Maybe I could just mix it with water and drink it.

Right now my stomach feels kind of icky. I don’t know if it’s the coconut oil or not. Earlier I had a headache but I took an Excedrin and it went away. I weighed before my appointment and I was down another .4 lbs. That makes a total of 11 pounds since January 2!!

Next phase of getting healthy…EXERCISE!!!!
